About the course
In their daily operations, organisations relate both to internal and external stakeholders and to societal norms. They are also dependent on external resources for survival, which creates organisation- environment dependency relationships. Overall, the management of organisations is often set to deal with conflicting demands and pressures from their environment which create a high degree of managerial complexity. The purpose of the course is to, based on several organisational theoretical perspectives, create a basis for understanding, explaining and analysing the relationship between the organisation and its external environment - how complexity arises and how organisations respond to and manage conflicting and sometimes incompatible demands.
