About the course

Today, global warming is increasingly both reshaping the spaces we inhabit and reshaping political debates. In this course you will explore the interconnectedness of place, politics, and climate change through various entry points. Themes covered include the physical geography of global warming, various political responses to global warming, as well as how climate change processes and narratives intertwine with place-making and questions of identity and belonging.

You will develop critical thinking skills to engage with environmental politics from a human geography perspective. You will have the opportunity to investigate real-world case studies and contribute to the ongoing dialogue on climate change, political responses and societal transformations.

Outline for distance course: The course is net-based. To follow the course, you need a computer with a camera, microphone and a stable internet connection. The course has no mandatory physical meetings but includes mandatory online meetings as well as written assignments. The assignments are submitted in the e-classroom on internet and you will receive personal feedback from the teacher. Taking a distance learning course means that you yourself largely determine when you study since you are not as tied to scheduled classes. Note, however, that this kind of course requires as much effort as an ordinary campus course and that it is equally important to meet set deadlines.
