About the course

English is spoken by more people in the world than any other language. It dominates the worlds of political, commercial, ideological, educational and cultural work. This course introduces you to English in its global context. The course will teach you how to express yourself in, and advance your understanding of, contemporary English; how to critically analyse contemporary English in a variety of different modes of expression; a critical understanding of English's dominance in the world; and the structure, uses, and literary and popular expressions of the language today.
