About the course
This course charts the development of the English language during the Early Modern English (c. 1500-1700) and Late Modern English (c. 1700-1950) periods. The course focuses on the analysis of authentic Early and Late Modern English texts from phonological, morphological, and syntactic perspectives, and includes small research projects on the lexis and grammar of Modern English. You are also introduced to important research tools such as the Oxford English Dictionary and corpora of Modern English.
