About the course

In this course, you will have the opportunity to read, analyse and orally discuss in French a few works of contemporary fiction. These will be placed in context, giving you an insight into French culture, the history of literature and ideas, as well as foreign backgrounds thanks to the world of fiction. You will become familiar with a range of literary genres and narrative forms, and learn about major French authors. In addition, you will learn to identify the main methods of analysis and critical trends through the study of academic articles that approach the literary works you read from different theoretical perspectives. This will allow you to deepen your knowledge and understanding of the works you read, while at the same time improving your ability to analyse fiction in a scholarly way, using relevant terminology. You can use these tools and draw inspiration from them when writing a thesis or other types of writing assignments.
