About the course

The course is intended for teachers of English at the primary or secondary level or in adult education within the Swedish school system.

Central theories of language acquisition, especially relevant for young learners, are introduced and discussed during the course. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the Swedish National Curriculum for English and other regulatory documents will be analysed and processed through language didactic perspectives. You will apply pedagogical models and techniques in the development of a communicative, creative and student-centred practice in the English classroom. A module on genre pedagogy is also included in the course.

The course introduces you to academic English, with a variety of oral and written assignments designed to improve your proficiency in analysing, summarising, quoting and referencing, discussing and presenting course content and literature through spoken and written English.
