Knowledge and skills corresponding to chemistry courses 60 credits including Organic chemistry 10.5 credits.
Learning outcomes
After the course, the student should to be able to:
- accont for fundamental concepts of radiation protection
- account for interactions between radiation and matter
- use a variety of radioactivity detectors
- work with the production of radioactive nuclides
- synthesise target molecules labbeled with radionuclides
- account for the use of labelled target molecules in clinical diagnostics, medical research, and drug development
Content
Basic knowledge of radioactive radiation. Production of radioactive nuclides. Interaction between radioactive radiation and matter. Radioactivity detectors. Syntheses and radiolabelling of organic molecules. Nuclear medicine. Use of radionuclides in farmacokinetical studies.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars, and laboratory work. Exercises in oral and written presentation. Laboratory work and related presentations are mandatory.
Assessment
Written examination is arranged at the end of the course. The laboratory work must also be passed. The written examination corresponds to 2.5 credits. The laboratory exercises including written and oral presentations are valued as 5 credits.
