Aims

To give fundamental knowledge about methods for analysis and control of linear dynamic systems.

Content

Mathematical modelling and description of dynamic systems: impulse response, step response, transfer function, Bode and Nyquist diagrams, relationship between the time domain and the frequency domain, system structures, feedback systems, state space description, canonical forms, controllability and observability, relationship between state space dscription and input-output description, and observers. Analysis of control systems, step response, speed, accuracy, sensitivity, robustness, stability. Stability analysis methods. Routh's algorithm, root locus, the Nyquist criterion, regulator design. Specifications, PID controllers. lead-lag-compensation, state feedback, output control using observers. Simulation with MATLAB.
