Entry requirements

University degree, minimum of 180 credits, in medicine, nursing, nutrition or another area relevant to international health. English proficiency (IELTS min 6, TOEFL min 550 paper based test).

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course students are expected to be able to:

Appraise determinants of health and health problems in an area of special interest on an advanced level of understanding, e.g. with a focus on international child health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, public health in humanitarian action, or public health nutrition; synthesise this knowledge and be able to transform this into interventions and policy within that area.

Master methodological skills to plan, perform, analyse and report an independent research project within an identified field of international health.

Content

The content of this course is jointly planned by the Master's students and her/his supervisor to meet the need of advanced knowledge in a specific area of international health and research methods. A plan for these studies is established and approved by the course coordinator.

Instruction

The course consist of self-studies, attendance to seminars, individual assignments and presentations.

Assessment

Different assessment procedures are used to measure attainment of learning objectives. This may include written reports, seminar presentations or a literature review.

25 students may be accepted per semester.

Duration: 14 weeks with possible start either during the fall or spring semesters.
