Entry requirements

120 credits, of which at least 40 credits in computer science.

Learning outcomes

For a pass mark, the student shall

  • have knowledge of some different processes to create systems, in particular software systems, that are used in practice
  • be able to explain their strengths and weaknesses, and assess their suitability in a given context
  • be able to describe the activities of the software engineering: requirements, design, implementation, testing and maintenance (what these activities involve, and how they are related).
  • be able to summarise and assess literature in this area.

Content

Requirements definition and specification, prototypes, formal specification, design methods, reliability and safety, validation and verification, maintenance, reuse, project planning, quality assurance.

Instruction

Lectures and guest lectures.

Assessment

Written exam (4 credits). Article summary (1 credit).
