General provisions

The course is offered within the Master's Program on International Humanitarian Action 120 ECTS credits. Students who fall outside the participatory fee scheme are not eligible to take part in the 2nd semester mobility.

Entry requirements

The course on Individual Choice is only available to students admitted to the NOHA programme.

25 credits within the Programme in International Humanitarian Action.

Learning outcomes

The learning outcomes of the course is to provide a conceptual and theoretical basis for the analysis of humanitarian action, with particular emphasis on the area(s) of specialisation provided in the Individual Choice course given by the selected NOHA network university. The specific learning outcomes are decided by the selected NOHA University in accordance with the NOHA program.

Content

The course is taught by one of the NOHA network universities and based on (a) specific area(s) of specialisation of the selected university. It is a full-time, second semester course given according to the timetable of the specific university providing the course. The content is decided by the selected NOHA University in accordance with the NOHA program.

Instruction

The course involves a variety of pedagogical methods, such as lectures, seminars, study visits, written assignments, and literature studies according to the selected university's demands.

Language of instruction is English.

Assessment

The course can be examined through written exams, papers, individual and/or group presentations according to the selected university's demands.

Grade: VG or G (Distinction or pass) as well as ECTS grades.

Other regulations

The course is only available to students admitted to the NOHA programme and can at the earliest be admitted to as a second semester course. Students who fall outside the participatory fee scheme are not eligible to take part in the 2nd semester mobility.

Transitional provisions

Members of a course regulated by a former version of this course plan have the possibility to be examined in accordance with that course plan within two years after the closure of the course. If there are particular reasons, such an examination can take place also later on. Normally no instruction in accordance with former versions of the course plan is given.
