Entry requirements
60 credits in Mathematics, Computer Science or Technology,
including a second course in programming using an object-oriented language.
Learning outcomes
For a pass mark, the student must be able to
- use object-oriented programming methodology to design and implement programs.
- explain how larger programming assignments can be solved in an object-oriented way and discuss different solutions based on object-oriented design principles.
- use a modelling language as a means to communicate realistic problems and their solutions.
- present an understanding of the connection between modelling languages and programming languages, for example by implementing models given in the modelling language or describing programs with help of the modelling language.
- use known solutions and patterns.
Content
Principles and methods for object-oriented analysis and design. Design by contract, design patterns, modelling and modelling languages. Language constructs that are specific for object-orientation; how different views on object-orientation are reflected in differences between programming languages. Practice by designing a larger program and implementing it based on that design.
Instruction
Lectures, lessons, laboratory work, seminars.
Assessment
Assignments as part of a project (4 credits). Oral and written report (1 credit).
