Learning outcomes
After the course the student shall have basic knowledge about remote sensing systems that can be used to investigate the earth's atmosphere and surface.
After the course the student shall
- have knowledge of different types of remote sensing systems
- know how to use remote sensing data for studies of processes in the atmosphere
- know how remote sensing data can be used in climatological studies
- have knowledge on radiation processes in the atmosphere
Content
Basic principled behind remote sensing, digital image processing and raster models. Transformations and projections of coordinate systems. Satellite parameters, sensors and platforms, Remote sensing systems: radar, sodar, lidar lightning detection, cloud height meter. Radiation processes in the atmosphere.
Instruction
Lessons, computer assignments and project work.
Assessment
Written examination at the end of the course (6 credits). To pass requires an approved project work (3 credits) and approved computer assignments (1 credit).
