Entry requirements
Requirement: student admitted to master's program in the humanities in the subject of Classical Archaeology and Ancient History.
Learning outcomes
After passing the course, the student must be able to:
- write a thesis on 45, 30 or 15 credits in the master's degree in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History,
- critically review and discuss scientific text including other students' essay work and their problems,
- exercise the skills in dealing with ancient sources.
Content
In the course, students discuss and practice in formulating a scientific problem area as well as writing scientific text. Furthermore, sections of the students' papers and issues related to the various subjects are discussed. The intention is to broaden the perspective both methodologically and theoretically as well as provide support in the essay writing.
Instruction
Teaching is given in the form of lectures and seminars.
Assessment
Examination takes place through written submissions and active participation in seminars. The course is graded with one of the grades Passed or Fail. Examination is in English or Swedish.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
