Entry requirements

A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university. Research Design, Methods and Statistics within the Public Health Area, 15 credits

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • independently plan, perform, report, and present a scientific study based on the different parts of the scientific process from problem formulation, questions, methodology (including research designs, data collection methods, and analysis), performance reports and conclusion
  • independently interpret and explain implementation of results from the scientific study
  • independently defend and discuss a point of view in a scientific discussion
  • independently evaluate and reflect on current scientific research studies in the field of Public Health and current development of knowledge
  • independently and creatively present scientifically based critique in a systematic and educational manner

Instruction

Individual work is supported through supervision, group discussions and seminars.

Assessment

The project plan and essay will be reviewed by opponents and is graded by the examiner. The essay is defended at a public seminar. Passed opposition of another student's project plan and essay.

Other regulations

You should register your essay in the Digital Scientific Archive (DIVA), either abstract/summary or the full essay. These two things must be done before registration of the course can be done.

This course replaces 3FV294 Thesis in Public Health.
