Entry requirements

120 credits including a basic course in cell biology or biochemistry of at least 10 credits. A certificate from the director of studies at the department, stating that the student has a supervisor and an approved project plan, is also required.

Learning outcomes

Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:

  • Plan and perform scientific experiments
  • Write a scientific report based on the results obtained and place these in a broader context

Content

The student will do an experimental in-depth study in a current cell biology subject under individual supervision. The theoretical part includes course literature chosen in consultation with the supervisor. The experimental part is performed under the guidance of the supervisor.

Instruction

The taught elements are designed specifically for each student by the supervisor assigned by the department. The experimental part of the course takes place within the framework of the ongoing research at the department.

The studies are conducted primarily as full-time studies.

Assessment

The experimental work is summarized in an essay written as a scientific report. The supervisor and examiner are responsible for the assessment.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
