120 credits including at least 90 credits within computer science and mathematics including Computer Networks I and Real-time systems or the equivalent. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- use suitable principles and standards (e.g. IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee) in design and evaluation of sensor networks and wireless communication protocols for small digital transmitters.
- demonstrate an ability to read, critically evaluate, analyse and present (verbally or in written form) the content and implications of research articles in the area.
- drawing on relevant results from research literature design and implement software and system solutions for wireless embedded systems.
Content
Proactive and reactive protocols for wireless systems, data transfer and communication in sensor networks, energy efficiency, and embedded systems programming.
Instruction
Lectures, discussion seminars, assignments, and project.
Assessment
Assignments and oral presentations (3 credits), active participation in projects and seminars (7 credits).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
Other directives
None of the courses 1DT074 Computer Networks II, 1DT082 Computer Networks III, 1DT095 Wireless communication and embedded systems and 1DT103 Wireless Communication and Networked Embedded Systemscan be counted towards graduation together with this course.
