Entry requirements
Introduction to Wind Power, 5 credits, Wind Resource Assessment and Utilisation, 6 credits and a bachelor's degree in engineering, natural or social science of 180 Swedish credits points or equivalent knowledge. Mathematics C and English B.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- account for available simulation tools for wind energy estimations
- perform energy estimation simulations
- apply measurement methods for wind power project development and evaluate the results
- perform and explain long term correlation of wind data by using the measure-correlate-predict (MCP) method
Content
Various model theories and their application for energy estimations are studied. Measurement methods and their application as indata for energy estimations are evaluated.
Instruction
The course includes lectures, seminars, group and field work. Student attendance is compulsory at most scheduled events.
Assessment
Written hand-in assignments and oral presentations 5 credits.
Written exam 2 credits.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
