Entry requirements

A Bachelor´s degree, in addition, 15 credits in the Major fields of study Renewable Energy Production at Master's level. Thematic Studies in Renewable Electricity Production (may be taken in parallell).

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • search, collect, evaluate and in a critical way interpret and compile scientific literature relevant information in a problem within the field of Renewable Energy Production as well as critically discuss related phenomena, issues and situations,
  • independently identify, formulate and solve problems even with limited information, as well as plan and carry out advanced tasks using appropriate methods within given time frames,
  • orally and in writing clearly present and discuss problems, solutions and conclusions,

    for different target groups both in scientific and in popular form

  • work independently with advanced tasks within the field of Renewable Energy Production,
  • show a scientific approach.


In the thesis the student is expected to apply the knowledge acquired during his/her studies by independently solving and presenting a task within the given timeframe. The task should be selected so that the knowledge gained from previous studies can be applied, broadened and deepened.


An independent research or development work, report writing, individual instructions and seminars.


Oral and written presentation of the degree project (further information under Other Directives). Opposition on another degree project (normally within the same programme), or equivalent (defined by the course examiner).

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
