Entry requirements
Sedimentology, Stratigraphy and Palaeobiology, 10 credits and Structural Geology and Ground Stability, 10 credits.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- identify, classify and analyse geological field data
- link these data to a geological evolution
- collect relevant data in the field
- analyse and interpret such data, and present analyses to potential employers and in scientific contexts
Content
Geological mapping and equivalent field work in an environment appropriate for the course. Compilation of
maps, profiles and interpretations in a written report. Training in communicating geological information.
Instruction
Lectures, field work and practicals.
Assessment
Written report with maps, profiles, stereograms and descriptions and interpretations.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
Other regulations
The field course will cause costs for travel and accommodation for the student.
This course cannot be included in the same degree as 1GV031.
