Entry requirements
30 credits in sustainable energy transition including Energy and Systems as well as Energy Production and Usage. Participation in Innovations for Energy Transition.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course the student shall be able to:
- analyse an existing energy system from a technical perpective as well as sustainability perspectives.
- identify possibilities and obstacles for improvements of energy systems from a technical perpective as well as sustainability perspectives.
- plan for, perform and present a project assignment which applies relevant theoretical knowledge in sustainable energy transition and leadership and contributes to a sustainable development of energy systems.
- account for and assess practical issues that can occur in project work.
Content
The purpose of the course is to provide the knowledge and skills to analyse and improve the energy system from a wide perspective. It will apply the knowledge that has been gained in previous courses in the program (e.g. energy, systems theory, energy and environment management systems, existing and future energy systems). The course is a project course and will develop skills in project management and leadership. An analysis of a limited energy system on an appropriate level will be performed. The project should also present realistic sustainable solutions of the system and identify challenges (e.g. technical, social, political, economic, environmental) which need to be bridged in order to implement the solutions.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars, supervision, steering group meetings, project work in group
Assessment
Active participation in seminars, steering group meetings and supervision (4 credits) and oral and written presentation of project work (6 credits).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
