Entry requirements
A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen. 30 credits at Master's level in the main field of study Quantum Technology including one of the courses Quantum Information and Second Generation Quantum Technology. One of the courses Photonics and Quantum Optics I, Optoelectronics and Spin-Based Technology I. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. Admission requires a project plan accepted by the department.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course the student shall be able to:
- show a deep knowledge within the chosen field of quantum technology
- search and in a critical way interpret and compile relevant scientific literature
- in a creative way delimit a scientific problem, plan a scientific study, choose appropriate methods, carry out the study, interpret and evaluate the results and, if applicable, generate falsifiable a hypotheses to explain the observations all within given time frames
- present the results in correct language for different target groups both in scientific and in popular form
- give constructive criticism of others' texts in quantum tecnology
Content
An independent work is carried out, where the knowledge from previously completed courses is applied. The work is carried out under the guidance of supervisors in close connection with ongoing research or development projects.
To achieve the goals, the student must:
- under supervision, delimit a scientific problem, investigate this, interpret and evaluate the results and present the work orally and in writing
- search, evaluate and compile information relevant to the chosen problem
- actively participate in seminars and other activities in the workplace where the work is performed
- comment and give constructive criticism of other students works (e.g. as an opponent)
Instruction
Individual supervision.
Assessment
Written and oral presentation (further information under Other Directives). The written presentation must consist of a scientific report with a popular scientific summary. Oral and written opposition on another degree project (normally within the same main field of study).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
