Entry requirements
120 credits including Materials in Engineering Systems or introduction to materials engineering. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course the student shall be able to:
- analyze and make material choices with a systems perspective,
- describe specific conditions for material selection in different energy systems,
- account for known material challenges in energy systems, and their solutions,
- perform material selection in aspects of maintenance, environment, health and final disposal.
Content
Material solutions in various energy-related industrial segments, e.g. hydropower, nuclear power, wind power, combustion systems, fuel cells, batteries, energy efficiency and energy transfers. Maintenance aspects, environmental and health effects and final repository is discussed.
Instruction
Lectures and seminars.
Assessment
Passed seminars (1 hp) and written exam (4 hp).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method.
