The course is an independent interdisciplinary course.

Entry requirements

To be accepted to the course there is a requirement to have fulfilled the requirements for Bachelors Degree in Educational Sciences or Political Sciences or three years of studies in a Teacher Training Programme.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course students should be able to:

• demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge and methodological and theoretic skills in investigating children's geographies and identity-work in educational contexts
• independently identify and argue for key questions in the field of research
• make thorough analyses of children's geographies and identity-work in different educational contexts

Content

• research on identity and identity-work
• analysis of and discussion of children's everyday life in a school context
• studies of children's active participation in and representation of different places and contexts

Instruction

The instruction consists of lectures, seminars and tutoring.

Assessment

The course is examined in writing and orally, for example through a written exam and oral presentation.

If there are special reasons, the examiner may make exceptions from the specified examination method and allow a student to be examined in another way. Special reasons can e.g. be information about pedagogical support from the university's coordinators for students with disabilities.
