Entry requirements

Participation in courses of 35 credits in Industrial Engineering and Management, of which 30 credits must be completed.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course the student shall be able to:

  • give an account of theory and application in Lean
  • apply principles, working methods and tools in Lean
  • critically review advantages and disadvantages of Lean
  • give an account of how Lean can be related to total quality management.

Content

Lean is studied in the context of total quality management. Lean principles, working methods and tools are applied to selected value flows in an organisation.

Instruction

Lectures, guest lectures, exercises, seminarier, study visits.

Assessment

Written assignments (4 credits). Seminars (1 credit).

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may decide to make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the university's disability coordinator.

Other directives

The course cannot be included in a degree together with 1TG260 Lean for Quality Development.
