General provisions

The course is part of the Euroculture Master's programme.

Entry requirements

The course is only available to students within the Euroculture Master's programme who have achieved 30 credits in the first semester and at least 20 credits in the second semester.

Learning outcomes

After completion of the course the student will be able to:

  • master standard research techniques in a specific discipline in the humanities or social sciences;
  • evaluate, comment on and contribute to an on-going university-level research project;
  • participate and contribute reflexively in discussions on research methodologies.

Content

The student will take part in an ongoing research project as a research intern and will be guided by a supervisor from the project. The student is expected to make a genuine contribution to the project and should produce a tangible academic output - such as a study, a literature review, the first draft of a scholarly article or a presentation of findings.

Instruction

Instruction will be provided in the form of supervision on the project. Language of instruction: English.

Assessment

The student must write a report of 4 000 words on the research internship. The research project supervisor must also submit an assessment.

Grades: Fail (F), Sufficient (E), Satisfactory (D), Good (C), Very Good (B) and Excellent (A).

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.

All work to be assessed must be in English.

Transitional provisions

Should the course cease to be given or change significantly, examination will be offered according to this syllabus on a further 3 occasions over 3 semesters. Under special circumstances, such an examination may also be offered later.
