Entry requirements
A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university. Also required is 90 credits in psychology with at least 7.5 credits in methods and statistics. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Describe theories, models, and empirical findings in work and organizational psychology;
- Analyze and discuss how research within work and organizational psychology can be applied;
- Demonstrate awareness of the complexities of modern working life in different countries;
- Critically reflect on how the field of work and organizational psychology can contribute to a sustainable working life for all.
Content
The course addresses central themes within the field of work and organizational psychology from an international perspective. Relevant themes from work psychology are recruitment and selection, working conditions, stress and health of workers. Relevant themes from organizational psychology are leadership, motivation, organizational change, and performance. The course covers how individual workers, groups and organizations are interconnected and elucidates on the complexity of modern working life in different countries.
Instruction
The teaching comprises interactive seminars and lectures. Students are also expected to engage in independent studies. Teaching is done in English.
Assessment
The course is examined by group discussions, oral presentations, written assignments and active participation in seminars and other teaching sessions.
