Entry requirements

Degree in physiotherapy or medicine for application to independent courses. For application to elective courses, 90 credit points from the physiotherapy programme are required. For medical students, knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology is required.

Aims

To provide in-depth knowledge of physical exercise and test of physical ability of healthy and ill individuals. To provide theoretical knowledge of planning, implementing and evaluating physical exercise as a part of rehabilitation.

Content

Theoretical knowledge of physiological reactions to inactivity and exertion. Theoretical knowledge of physiological and pathophysiological causes to exercise tolerance. Theoretical and practical knowledge of physical tests.

Instruction

This is a distance course and instruction is in the form of lecturers, demonstrations, labs and seminars at the course site.

Assessment

Successful completion of the course requires three individual assignments submitted in writing at the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th course meeting. An oral presentation of the assignment is also to be given at no less than 2 of these meetings. Students must attend at least 3 of the 4 course meetings.
