200 credits in science/engineering including 30 credits at Master's level. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • plan and implement a project related to embedded systems, performed in a smaller group and accomplished
  • within given time limits,
  • analyse an open problem, formulate sub-problems, and then find and evaluate solutions,
  • independently find assess and use scientific and technical information with the aim to solve the project task,
  • demonstrate a solution to a complex task, and show that it fulfils a set of specifications,
  • present the conditions for the project and the project results orally and in writing, thereby also giving arguments
  • for the choice of the selected solution.

Content

Initial information on project organisation. The student chooses between project tasks that are formulated within computer science or programming, construction of electronic systems or signals and systems. The project task is solved in a smaller group, with access to a supervisor who acts as an adviser. The students also have the possibility to formulate projects themselves or to chose projects that are formulated by companies and research groups.

Instruction

Lectures, seminars and project supervision.

Assessment

Written project report and oral presentation at a seminar. The structure and clarity of the report are assessed in addition to its technical content.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
