Learning outcomes

After having completed the course, students should be able to:

  • describe how AI creative content generation tools generate new content, and what are common limitations associated with their generative models
  • discuss and reflect upon the ethical and legal challenges of creative content generated with the assistance of AI
  • generate visual artwork, narrative text, and audio for a game project using AI tools, and
  • reflect upon the potential, challenges, and limitations of current AI tools with reference to games.

Content

The course contextualizes the use of AI generated creative content for the field of game development. Through structured discussions and in practical projects - experimenting with creating visual, textual and audio content -students will be challenged to reflect upon the potential as well as the limitations of AI tools and to what extent these tools are able to assist them in creative aspects of game development. In a broader sense, the students will also reflect on ethical and legal challenges, such as the concept of authorship and definition of creativity.

Instruction

The course combines individual studies, with seminars and workshops that include peer discussions and reviews.

Assessment

Examination may include workshops, participation in peer discussions, practical assignments and reflections upon these assignments. Grading is based on the degree to which the submissions demonstrate an understanding and application of the theoretical, technical and artistic content of the course as specified in the course goals and requirements for each assignment

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University´s disability coordinator.
