Entry requirements
130 credits in science/engineering. Tribological Materials. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course the student shall be able to:
- analyse contact conditions of a tribological component,
- conduct a tibological study,
- conduct relevant materials analysis,
- present and discuss the performance-determining tribological mechanisms of the contact,
- present and discuss the results both orally and in writing.
Content
In the form of a project, students shall study, analyze and carry out systematic testing of a tribological component, system or contact situation. An initial literature study around the component, its use and tribological challenges provides training in technical/scientific information search. Subsequently, a test plan shall be designed describing how the test will be performed and which parameters will be studied: Next the test itself is performed. After testing, components and materials shall be studied using relevant analysis methods.
Instruction
Project meetings with teachers. Seminars. Instructions for use of test equipment.
Assessment
Written experimental plan (1 credit). Oral presentation (4 credits). Final written report (5 credits).
