Entry requirements

120 credits in science/engineering including Electronics I / Analogue Electronics. in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the students should be able to:

  • describe tools and design flow for an analog integrated circuit (IC, chip), CMOS fabrication processes, technology nodes, and chip fabrication as a business (foundry),
  • simulate analog ICs with schematic tools, SPICE and circuits design libraries (PDK),
  • use tools for geometrical IC layout,
  • use tools for verifications of schematics, layouts, and parasitic extraction,
  • use tools for generating maskdata for fabrication at a foundry,
  • present orally and in writing a completed project.

Content

IC history, CMOS processes and nodes, silicon foundries. Analog circuit design, tools and design flow. Silicon foundry PDK and components. Circuit schematics tools, SPICE, layout and verification tools. Mask data generation and verification for manufacturing.

Instruction

Lecturers, seminars, laborations.

Assessment

Oral presentation and written report of a completed project work (4 credits). Laboratory work (1 credit).

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
