Entry requirements
A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university. Also required is 60 credits in economics and 15 credits in statistics (or a closely related subject).
Learning outcomes
The core goal of the course is to obtain the relevant methodological knowledge for macroeconomic analysis. Specifically, the course goals are:

Show an understanding of, and be able to derive simple general equilibrium models of the business cycle.

Simulate and interpret this type of models in Matlab/Dynare.

The end goal of mastering these methods is to:
i. understand which factors drive short-run fluctuations in inflation and output
ii. how monetary and fiscal policy affect the economy.

Be able to verbally present economic analysis, such as scientific articles, policy reports and results from economic models.
Content
The course consists of different topics. Examples include:
- Business cycles
- Unemployment fluctuations
- Stabilization policy using monetary and fiscal policy
Instruction
The course consists of lectures as well as student presentations.
Assessment
The assessment consists of student presentations as well as a written exam.
