Entry requirements
Complex Analysis MN1 and Fourier Analysis MN1.
Aims
The aim of the course is to provide a deeper understanding
of the discrete Fourier transform, expansions in
terms of orthogonal bases, and other transforms
such as the Radon transform and various wavelet
transforms. The laboratory work should familiarise
the student with computational aspects of these
transforms.
Content
The fast Fourier transform. The classical
orthogonal function systems associated with the
names Hermite, Legendre, Jacobi, Chebyshev, Bessel,
Hankel. The Radon transform. Wavelets and
expansion in various bases of wavelet functions.
Instruction
Lectures and laboratory work.
Assessment
Written and oral examination with problems and
theory questions (6 ECTS credit points) at the end of the course. Passed
laboratory work is also required (1.5 ECTS credit points).
