Aims
The course is intended to provide application
oriented knowledge of Nondestructive Material
Evaluation (NDE) Methods, especially those based
on ultrasonics and eddy currents.
Content
Introduction and presentation of various NDE techn
iques. NDE and design, probability in NDE. Ultrasonic techniques: elastic wave propagation, ultrasonic transducers, inspection principles, inspection techniques, acoustic emission. Magnetic particle inspection. Eddy current techniques: fundamentals, impedance diagram, eddy current probes, eddy current inspection, special techniques and instrumentation.
Project work.
Instruction
Lectures and project.
Assessment
Presentation of the project during tutorials as
examination on theory. Written report and
demonstration of the results.
