Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- read and interpret drawings according to swedish standard,
- create complete detail- and assembly drawings according to swedish standard,
- plan dimensioning for function requirements and manufacturing requirements of a product,
- set tolerances on drawings according to swedish standard,
- use a methodology that results in stable and easy-to-edit models to create 3D-solids and assemblies,
- create assemblies with moving parts,
- combine knowledge in drafting and CAD to create a complete basis for manufacturing of a simple product, containing parts, assemblies and detail- and assembly drawings.
Content
Basics of 3D CAD, modelling, assemblies and drawings with SolidWorks. Mechanisms, analysing, references, features, relations.
Basic concepts of drafting: Lines, scales, views, sections, dimensioning, tolerances and surface finish. Assembly drawing and detail drawing.
Instruction
Self-directed learning, assignments and projectwork.
Assessment
Home exam in drafting (3 credits), assignments in CAD (4 credits) and projectwork (3 credits).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
