Entry requirements
60 credits within the Master's Programme in Industrial Engineering and Management. Industrial Engineering and Management I: The Functions of the Corporation. Participation in Industrial Engineering and Management II: Organizing, Production and Markets.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, students should be able to
- plan and carry out a project in business and technology development in a small group within given time frames,
- analyse an open-ended problem, formulate sub-problems and identify and select solutions to these,
- seek, evaluate and use scientific and technical information to achieve the project goals,
- present the analysis of the problem in writing and orally, identify possible solutions and provide arguments for the chosen solution, paying attention to relevant technical, economic, ethical and sustainability aspects,
- discuss the project in relation to project management theory, particularly group dynamics and management by objectives.
Content
In the course, a complex project assignment in the subject industrial engineering is carried out in groups. The project assignment relates to current problems in technology-intensive organisations. The course includes project management, project planning, group dynamics and written and oral reporting.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars and supervision of group assignment.
Assessment
Written and oral presentation of the project.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the university's disability coordinator.
