• Bachelor's Programme in Information Systems, specialisation software engineering, 180 credits

Learning outcomes

Regarding knowledge and understanding the student is expected (on completion of the course) to be able to:

  • describe methods, tools and framework to develop and evaluate mobile applications.

Regarding competence and skills the student is expected (on completion of the course) to be able to:

  • design, develop and evaluate a mobile application,
  • document and justify choices during design and development of a mobile application.

Regarding judgement and approach the student is expected (on completion of the course) to be able to:

  • evaluate a mobile application based on design, functionality, documentation and testability,
  • discuss how the use of mobile applications can influence individual, organisation and society.

Content

Mobile solutions spread more and more which influence individuals, organisations and the society and the course deals with change both from a technical and social sciences perspective.

The course covers analysis, design, development and evaluation of mobile solutions, where the students in a case study will design, develop and evaluate a mobile application.

Component 1: Mobility and society 2 credits

The component introduces methods, tools and frameworks to develop mobile solutions and cover how the use of mobile applications can influence individuals, organisations and society. The concept of mobility is problematised using a social science perspective.

Component 2: Design of application 1.5 credits

The component covers methods, tools and frameworks to develop and evaluate mobile applications. The component also deals with and emphasises documentation and the importance of to be able to justify choices made.

Component 3: Development and evaluation of prototype 4 credits

During this component, a mobile application is built and evaluated using the methods, tools and frameworks that the course covers.

Instruction

The course is given in the form of lectures and laboratory work.

Assessment

The components are examined through hand-in assignments. For the grade Pass in the whole course, it is required that all components are passed. For Pass with distinction in the whole course it´s required to pass with distinction on at least two of the components.
