Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, a student will be able to:
- Identify the different types of motion capture techniques and when to use them,
- Identify advantages and limitations with motion capture for animation,
- Describe a pipeline to gather recorded motion data and how that can be integrated into a game production,
- Record and process motion capture data using an optical motion capture system,
- Demonstrate basic skills in instructing actors and ensuring that safety standards are met, andUnderstand and apply the principles of animation within games and film to convert motion capture data to animation.
Content
The course consists of lectures and workshops with a focus on using motion capture for game production. The students work in groups and individually with learning the best work methods regarding the use of special equipment for motion capture.
Instruction
The instruction consists of lectures and workshops.
Assessment
Examination is in the form of practical assignments, workshops and written reflections.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
Uppsala University does not accept cheating or plagiarism. Suspected incidents of cheating or plagiarism are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, which may issue a formal warning to the student or suspend the student from studies for a certain period.
NOTE: Only completed courses can count toward a degree.
