Entry requirements

At least 30 credits obtained within the Erasmus+ Master's (120 credits) Programme in Innovative Medicine and project description approved by programme director regarding supervision and project set-up.

Learning outcomes

Upon completing the course, students should be able to

• demonstrate experience and basic knowledge of planning, implementation, documentation and presentation of a research problem, corresponding to the appropriate time frame and the project at hand
• present an in-depth knowledge of the field of research and evaluate and select adequate methods and technologies
• independently evaluate, interpret, critically analyse and compile scientific information in the research field including obtained results and present and discuss these using correct language both in writing and at a seminar.

Content

Students carry out an independent research or development project in a relevant field individually under the guidance of a supervisor at an academic research department or a public authority or in industry.

The purpose of the project is to deepen and broaden the students' aptitude for scientific research and their theoretical and methodological knowledge.The work includes literature searches, planning and execution of the project, critical analysis of relevant scientific literature and students' own results.It also includes oral and written presentations of the project.Students are also expected to participate in relevant seminars and other regular activities in the research group.The course can also include the interdisciplinary course module BBB - Bench to Bedside and Back (BBB).

Instruction

Teaching is given in the form of individual supervision.The project work can be performed at an academic research department, a public authority or in industry within a relevant subject area.

Assessment

To pass the course, both a written and an oral presentation of the research project have to be approved by the supervisor and programme director.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.

Other directives

The project can be carried out at any time of the year and as full-time or part-time study.
