Forum for Africa Studies is part of network initaitives to promote research in, on and with Africa.

LACET

A transnational research lab to strengthen anthropology, in collaboration between Uppsala University's Forum for Africa Studies (Uppsala), the Institut des Sciences des Sociétés (Ouagadougou) and the Institut des Sciences Humaines (Bamako).

AEGIS

The Forum is member of AEGIS - a network of excellence made up of Europe-based member institutions involved in research and higher education on and in Africa, and African Studies.

Guild-ARUA Clusters

We are also engaged in the Guild-ARUA collaboration Strengthening African Knowledge Society. Read more about the Guild-ARUA research clusters we are involved in.

MANSA

We collaborate with scholarly associations like the Mande Studies Association (MANSA), an international scholarly network of people working in West Africa. The Eleventh International Conference on Mande Studies was organized through webinar mode by the Forum for Africa Studies in June 2021. The Twelfth International Conference on Mande Studies was organized in hybrid mode in Bamako and online. The Forum has furthermore a longstanding collaboration with the Association for the Anthropology of Social Change and Development (APAD).

SANORD

The Forum for Africa Studies is supporting the Southern Africa-Nordic Centre (SANORD), a university network. We led the organization of SANORD's conference in September 2016 on Beyond New Public Management. The most recent SANORD Conference took place in Cape Town, South Africa, 4-6 December 2024. From January 2025, the Forum is fully in charge of Uppsala Universty's involvement in SANORD.

GlobeLife

GlobeLife is a collaboration between Uppsala University and Karolinska Institutet. The overall aim of GlobeLife is to strengthen collaboration through research and training in the field of global health both within and between Uppsala University and Karolinska Institutet. Thereby, we will become more competitive and relevant partners in the global ambition and strive towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. GlobeLife's website
