Infrastructure at The Tandem Laboratory

View from the switching magnet position into the experimental hall of the Tandem Laboratory. Six beamlines extend into the room. Their most distinct feature are green and red magnets.

The Tandem Laboratory maintains a unique infrastructure within the Nordic countries with broad capabilities in accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS), ion beam materials analysis (IBA) and ion beam modification of materials (IBMM). Four particle accelerators deliver ions to in total eleven end stations enabling a plethora of different techniques. Accelerator-based methods are complemented by a number of smaller set-ups providing further possibilities for sample preparation and analysis as well as material growth.
