Altris starts large-scale production of sustainable battery material
Photo: Mikael Wallerstedt Altris, a startup company from the Department of Chemistry - Ångström, is investing in the production of cathode materials for sodium ion batteries in its own new factory in Sandviken.
Altris AB has signed an agreement with AB Sandvik Materials Technology to start up a new plant in Sandviken, where Altris will manufacture cathode materials for sodium ion batteries on an industrial scale. Ferrum, as the new plant is called, has an annual capacity of 2,000 tonnes of Altris' own cathode material Fennac, which in practice means sustainable sodium batteries equivalent to 1 GWh per year.
