Our ethnologist and Assistant Professor Jakob Löfgren recently participated in the conference Traditionernas spår: forskning, arkiv och Unescos immateriella kulturarv (Traces of Tradition: Research, Archives and UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage) at the Nordic Museum in Stockholm.

In his presentation, he discussed a genre-based reading of football supporters’ folklore as a way of increasing understanding of what happens in the stands, the social functions of fandom, and its rich tradition of vernacular poetry, declarations of love, and irony.

Gurbet Peker, our PhD candidate in ethnology, also contributed to the event.

The conference brought together researchers, archivists, and cultural heritage professionals to discuss research, documentation, and the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.
