Description

It is well known that early childhood is a key period for the development of overweight and obesity and that prevention needs to begin early. Parents play a significant role in shaping their children´s food habits and behaviours, however, one parent is invisible in research on parenting and children´s eating – the father. For despite the fact that fathers have become more involved in the care of their children, systematic reviews have repeatedly shown that research on children´s eating, especially infants and toddlers´, as well as research on childhood obesity mainly includes mothers.

The doctoral project aims to explore the role of fathers in children´s eating and more specifically, which child-feeding practices fathers use, by inviting fathers to participate in both qualitative and quantitative studies.

Are you a father on paternity leave with a child aged 11-18 months?
