Hallym-Uppsala

Hallym and Uppsala have collaborated since 2008
The initiative was launched 2005 by Yong-Sun Kim, President of Hallym University Medical Center and Professor of Health and Biomedical Sciences at Hallym University, together with Kjell Öberg, Professor Emeritus of Endocrine Oncology at Uppsala University.
The collaboration has led to ongoing scientific exchanges and is regarded as highly significant by the government of the Republic of Korea.
Chairman Doctor Dai-Won Yoon awarded the Linnaeus Medal
Hallym-Uppsala Symposium
A central part of the collaboration is the Hallym-Uppsala Symposium, organised alternately by the two universities. The symposium focuses on shared research areas in which both academies excel, such as antibiotics, drug development, stem cells, and regenerative medicine.
The 14th Hallym-Uppsala Symposium was organised by Uppsala University on 23 September.
The 2025 year’s meeting explored Perspectives on Ageing: Challenges, Innovations and Opportunities, with presentations on new Alzheimer’s treatments, biomarkers for neurodegeneration, immunity in Parkinson’s disease, strategies for healthy ageing – and much more.
