Museum
When are you open?
From 1 June – 31 August open Monday to Sunday 11:00 – 17:00.
From 1 September – 31 May (2026) we are open Tuesday to Friday 12:00 –17:00 and Saturdays and Sundays 11:00 –17:00.
Can I bring food with me and eat it inside the Museum?
Unfortunately, no. No food or drink is allowed inside the Museum.
Can I take photographs in the Museum?
Yes you can, for personal use/sharing on social media only. Photography (without flash and/or the use of a tripod) is allowed inside the Museum. However, professional and commercial photography is not allowed without prior permission.
Is it possible to hire Gustavianum for events?
Yes, you can hire Gustavianum for events. Please visit the web page Hiring Gustavianum.
Is there a lift?
There is a lift to all floors and exhibitions in the Museum, with the exception of the Anatomical Theatre’s upper floor. Unfortunately, power-operated wheelchairs such as Permobil® do not fit in our lift.
Can I bring my dog/pet?
Pets are not allowed inside the Museum. However guide dogs are welcome.
I'm only interested in seeing the Anatomical Theatre. Do I still have to pay admission?
Yes. The entrance fee applies to all Gustavianum’s exhibits.
Is it possible to borrow a key to the Anatomical Theatre?
No. The Anatomical Theatre is only available to Museum visitors during regular opening hours and for events before/after the Museum's regular opening hours.
Our collection storage facilities
Can I book a visit to one of the collections that you hold in storage with my association?
Unfortunately, Gustavianum's collections are only open to University teaching staff, researchers and students. Occasionally, however, it may be possible to visit the collection storage facilities on programme/open house days.
What are the opening hours for the collection storage facilities?
Gustavianum's collections are only open to University teaching staff, researchers and students. They can book visits via Contact.
I have a question about a work of art. Can you help?
The Art Collection is only responsible for answering questions regarding works belonging to Gustavianum/Uppsala University’s Art Collection.
How do I access images of objects held in your collections?
You can view our digitalised material/images in the databases Alvin and PRAGMATA.

Can you help me find out what an object is worth?
Gustavianum follows ICOM's Code of Ethics and does not carry out valuations of objects. We do not assess the authenticity of objects and we do not issue certificates of authenticity.
