Late Opening

On the first Tuesday of each month, the museum stays open until 8:00 PM. No advance booking is required. Regular admission fees apply.

Public Tours

Our public tours last about 30 minutes.

Tours are included in the admission ticket and no advance booking is required for groups of up to 10 people.

Please note that tours may be cancelled on special program days and/or during events.

September 1 – May 31
Tours are offered on Saturdays and Sundays:

• 1 PM in English
• 3 PM in Swedish

June 1 – August 31
Tours are offered daily:

• 11:15 AM and 1 PM in English
• 3 PM in Swedish

Private Tours

A private tour lasts about 60 minutes.

Tuesday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM: SEK 1000/guide/hour (admission fee per participant applies).

Outside regular opening hours and on weekends: SEK 2500/guide/hour (admission fee per participant applies).

When booking a private tour at Gustavianum, you pay both the tour fee and a reduced admission fee.

Groups of 10 people or more are entitled to a reduced admission fee even without booking a tour.

Accessibility

The new entrance (facing the University Park) has a ramp. With our lift, you can access all floors and exhibitions (with the exception of the Anatomical theatre's upper floor). The lift is approx. 80 cm wide and 115 cm deep. Unfortunately, power-operated wheelchairs such as Permobil® do not fit in our lift. There are railings in the stairwell. You can visit the Museum with a wheeled walker and we have an accessible toilet (RWC equipped with baby changing facilities) located on the entrance level.

Parking

Unfortunately, the Museum has no adjacent parking. The nearest parking is available at S:t Eriks torg. A parking space for the disabled is located next to the Ekermanska huset, S:t Larsgatan 2. Parking permits for the disabled are valid for this parking space. No special permit from Gustavianum is needed. Public bus parking is available at Riddartorget.

Photography

Visitors are welcome to take photographs (without flash and/or the use of a tripod) in the Museum for private use and to share on social media. Professional and commercial photography is not permitted without prior permission.

Gustavianum has a gift shop where you can buy Uppsala University promotional giftware, souvenirs, books, accessories and more.

The online shop is open to all: alumni, students, the public and departments at the University.

General information

Please note that large bags are not permitted in the Museum. Backpacks must be left in the cloakroom, or carried by hand. A cloakroom with lockers is located on the entrance level. No drink or food may be consumed inside the Museum.

Shoes fitted with ice cleats or studs are not permitted indoors, as the floors of our old building would be quickly damaged by the cleats/studs.

No pets are allowed in the Museum, with the exception of guide dogs.

The Museum's exhibitions may contain material/works that are not suitable for children or should be viewed in adult company. Please consult the staff on site.

How to get here

A 1 km walkway runs from Uppsala Central Station to the Museum. It takes about 15 minutes to walk.

A new entrance facing the University Park leads directly to the Museum’s reception and shop.
