Partnership agreement signed with NCC
In 2016, Uppsala University and NCC decided to explore the opportunities offered by increased collaboration, since when a number of rewarding projects have been conducted. A partnership agreement has now been signed to continue and develop cooperation between the parties.
“Our previous collaborations have been extremely positive and we are now taking things to the next level. Our intention is to create a broad collaboration focusing mainly on sustainability, digitisation and innovation,” says Johan Tysk, vice-rector for the Disciplinary Domain of Science and Technology and partnership owner on behalf of Uppsala University.
The idea behind the partnership between UU and NCC is to derive mutual benefit through tangible collaborations. Collaboration on education is already being planned this autumn, including degree projects, study visits, developing new study programmes and educational initiatives related to lifelong learning. Specific proposals have also been made regarding research seminars to identify joint concepts and projects.
“The collaboration with Uppsala University provides us with new perspectives, knowledge and tools to meet the increasingly complex challenges we are seeing in our construction projects. We hope that at the same time we can arouse interest in our industry, thus broadening our recruitment base,” says Christina Claeson-Johnsson, director of research and innovation at NCC.
“Collaboration between the university and the business community enhances quality and stimulates development for both parties. We gain new contacts and a better understanding of the challenges facing the industry, while NCC connects with cutting-edge research and talented students. We are looking forward to a broad and in-depth collaboration,” says Anders Hagfeldt, vice-chancellor of Uppsala University.
The new strategic partnership is the fourth of its kind, following on from similar agreements with Hitachi Energy, Uppsala Municipality and Region Gotland. The programme on the day of signing included presentations of the partnership agreement and various collaborative forms by representatives of NCC and Uppsala University.
