The Vice-Chancellor of Uppsala University, Eva Åkesson, has been made Honorary Doctor at the University of Edinburgh. The conferment ceremony took place in Edinburgh this Tuesday.


She received the formal invitation from the University of Edinburgh in August 2014. The title honours the excellence of her contributions to higher education and its internationalization in Sweden.

‘I am deeply honoured that my work towards internationalization and higher education is being recognized in this manner. Edinburgh is one of the world’s leading universities, and bears several similarities to Uppsala University. We enjoy a close cooperation today, which we would like to develop even further’, Eva Åkesson says.
